The Grace I asked, I received …

and much much more When I started preparing to attend the World Assembly, I asked the Lord for the grace of an authentic experience of what it means to be part of the CLC World Community. I wanted to feel it, see it and hear it at a deeper level. As I reflect on those 10 days in San Miguel, I realise it is not easy to capture the experience in one sitting or on one page. So I am sharing the graces received for which I am grateful. • The remarkable hospitality and generosity of the hosting team, ARUPA, which was evident from the time we arrived at the airport to the day we were bussed out to catch our return flights. Nothing was too much for them to do and they always helped out with a smile, no matter how late in the night or early in the morning it was that they were needed. • The sense of belonging not to a working team but to a family that I witnessed among the members of the World EXCO, especially on two occasions: presenting the Five Year Report and electing the new World EXCO. The practice of shared responsibility was ever present; their constant gestures and words of encouragement quite noticeable. Soon this flowed out among the delegates. • The gentle process of ESDAC (in English, it translates to Spiritual Exercises for a Communal Apostolic Discernment) was both engaging and effective in helping us ‘discover together how we can best respond to God’s call’, ie how can CLC best live out its charism in the world today. I hope it is a process CLC Australia can use more often.
